April 1, 2012: No April foolin'
Spring is definitely springing at Eagle Canyon. I spent a few hours out there this morning filling in as host for Clint who was out turkey hunting. The weather was beautiful. This is the first nice weather we've had in about 3 weeks and it feels good. I helped net a few really nice big fish. Our best flies were a red san juan worm, a brown jimmy legs size 8, and a size 14 Eng Thang.
We still have a wide open day available on Saturday April 7th (Easter Weekend) and 3 spots available Sunday April 15th. This is your last chance to get up here until November...

April 2, 2012: Guest report
This is from Rocky, who fished the lakes yesterday:
"Had a great time yesterday. Fishing was a little tough in the morning, but once I found the right depth and fly combo, it picked up. Fly of the day: San Juan Worm. Would have been a very slow day without it. 95% of all the fish we're caught on it. Red worked great, orange even better. Only other fly that really worked was the rubber (floss) legs stone. I landed approx. 15 fish. Scott probably landed 6 or 7."

April 12, 2012: Season now ends May 6th!
Due to recent rains we have extended our Eagle Canyon season through May 6th. We currently have openings from April 17th through May 6th. This extended spring season should offer some of the best fishing of the year. Warmer spring weather brings hatches of callibaetis and march brown mayflies plus damselflies. Call soon to reserve your date for this special extended season!
